[19:34] <jkridner> I'm having what I believe is a CLASSPATH problem with building Helma.
[19:35] <jkridner> I know that every newbie on the face of the planet with Java has CLASSPATH problems, but this one as me a bit stumped.
[19:37] <jkridner> my first compilation error is: [javac] /root/helma/helma-1.6.0/work/src/helma/framework/core/Application.java:33: package org.apache.commons.logging does not exist

[19:37] <jkridner> yet, /usr/share/commons-logging/lib/commons-logging.jar is one of the first items in my classpath.

[20:29] <midnightmonster> jkrinder, I haven't braved the setup of a build environment for helma yet. so I have no info; I just wanted to say I hear you and sympathize. you might try the user or dev lists.

[21:21] <jkridner> ah. I tried to do the build myself with 'ant compile'. I'll try the easy route first.

[21:23] <zumbrunn> if in fact something did go wrong with the last src packages for 1.6.0, I don't think there is a point of fixing it anyway...

[21:28] <zumbrunn> basically, by dropping the PircBot jar into the ./lib/ext/ directory of helma and then calling its java methods
[21:31] <zumbrunn> and regarding openid, you should probably ask about that on the mailing list
[21:31] <zumbrunn> I know this has come up before, but I'm not sure if anybody has actually gone forward with it and has code to share

[21:38] <jkridner> thanks. I'm using PircBot today with LogBot. I think it would be nice to get it into JavaScript and avoid all of the recompiles.
[21:42] <jkridner> OK, that was easy. I hope the source package is fixed soon. I'm not sure what the classpath issue was.
[21:43] <jkridner> I'll look to use the svn releases in the future and hopefully it is all fixed up soon. Let me know what I can do to help, but clearly I'm not that useful right now if I can't make it build. :)
